Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered maps Chinatown, Creek, more return in The Variety Map Pack

7 Mar

The Variety Map Pack will be released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered players later this month.

It contains four popular maps from the original game, each enhanced to match the added shine given to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

The Variety Map Pack contains the following four maps:

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered_Variety Map Pack_Broadcast

Broadcast: Based on the TV station from the campaign mission “Charlie Don’t Surf”, this map provides a unique blend of confined corridors and wide-open spaces. Outside the station, the parking lot contains long sightlines, but once inside, cramped hallways and a computer-cluttered broadcast room provide ample close-range combat opportunities.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered_Variety Map Pack_Chinatown

Chinatown: Set in a foggy downtown district, this nighttime map is lit up by flickering neon signs and a full moon. A re-imagining of the original Call of Duty multiplayer map “Carentan”, players will need to be careful on these streets, as almost every building in the map can be occupied, providing perfect cover for enemies waiting for a chance to line you up in their sights.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered_Variety Map Pack_Creek

Creek: Set in a wide-open village ravaged by combat where concealment is the difference between life and death, a gaping ravine divides this map into two. Open clearings with sheer cliff faces and ample forested cover make this map ideal for snipers and long-range firefights.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered_Variety Map Pack_Killhouse

Killhouse: A small training warehouse filled with various building mock ups that feature soft and hard cover points. Expect fast-paced and fierce firefights for maximum close-quarters chaos.

The pack will run $14.99 or your regional equivalent. It also comes with ten Rare Supply Drops, which Activision said represents a $20 bonus value.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Variety Map Pack is available to pre-order now for the PlayStation 4.

It will release for the console on March 21, with other platforms to come later.

Get a PS4 Pro with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Dishonored 2 for $400

22 Feb

If you’re looking to pick up a PS4 Pro, why not get two free games along with it?

dishonored_2_guide_walkthrough

Sony has yet to offer any official deals or discounts on PS4 Pro. This is why deals like today’s NewEgg offer are always exciting for those looking to get a better deal on the more powerful PS4.

This isn’t the first deal of this type, either, but they tend to go out of stock pretty quickly. Today’s offer gets you a PlayStation 4 Pro console, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and Dishonored 2 – all for the MSRP of $400. Both game are enhanced for PS4 Pro, too, so you’ll be playing the better versions.

This essentially means you get two of the best selling games of last year for free. You can see it for yourself at the link. The offer is available only through NewEgg’s eBay portal, while stocks last.

We should also note that the version of Infinite Warfare included is the standard edition, and does not come with Modern Warfare Remastered.

Resident Evil 7 was the best-selling game of January 2017, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, other heavy-hitters play musical chairs

17 Feb

The NPD group has released hardware and software figures for January 2017 and it should come as no surprise that PlayStation 4 and Resident Evil 7 topped the respective sectors.

January 2017 NPD at a glance

Resident Evil 7 tops software charts

PS4 was best-selling console

PC software spend declined 12% year-over-year

All categories – accessories, hardware, software – down 4% year-over-year

Compare month-on-month: December 2016

Compare year-over-year: January 2016

While hardware sales declined, software was up 14% to $313 million. NPD attributed the increase to Resident Evil 7’s release, especially when comparing the year-over-year (yoy) release slates.

It’s also worth noting Resident Evil 7 was only on the market for five days when the NPD reporting period ended.

“With only five days in the market, Resident Evil 7 was the best-selling game in January,” said NPD analyst Sam Naji. “The last time Capcom had the best-selling game of the month (in dollar sales) was in March 2009 with Resident Evil 5.”

First-person shooters Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 were still two of the best-selling games for the month, and neither title has fallen off the chart since release in fall 2016.

Overwatch also returned after dropping off the NPD software list in October.

The rise in sales could possibly be attributed to various discount offers or the Overwatch Year of the Rooster event; however, that’s just conjecture on our part as NPD didn’t elaborate on why Overwatch was once again charting. It was, however, one of the best-selling games of 2016 per NPD’s yearly report in January.

Action titles Grand Theft Auto 5 and Watch Dogs 2 also remained on the chart, while sports titles Madden NFL 17 and FIFA 17 remained popular with US consumers as well.

PC software came in at $16 million, a 12% decline yoy from $18 million.

PS4_console_big

NPD Software Top Ten January 2017

You’ll notice not much changed on the chart since December 2016, as the heavy hitters played musical chairs and that’s about it.

The biggest changes were the entry of new releases Resident Evil 7 and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue – the second best-selling PS4 title for the month.

Pokemon Sun and Moon and Final Fantasy 15 fell off the chart, and again, Overwatch reentered it.

The full NPD software chart is below, but keep in mind not all digital stores report sales data. Some publishers who sell through the PlayStation and Xbox Stores report data, but others do not. For example: Microsoft, Sony and Blizzard (Battle.net) do not report first-party sales.

  1. Resident Evil 7 (PS4, Xbox One)
  2. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (PC, PS4, Xbox One)
  3. Grand Theft Auto 5 (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
  4. Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, Xbox One)
  5. NBA 2K17 (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
  6. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (PS4)
  7. Madden NFL 17 (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
  8. Watch Dogs 2 (PC, PS4, Xbox One)
  9. Overwatch (PC, PS4, Xbox One)
  10. FIFA 17 (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

This month, NPD also started reporting catalog sales of titles from the first six months of availability – starting with month seven (thanks, MCV). The winning publisher in the category for January 2017 was Take-Two and it was also the top publisher for 2016. NPD attributed this to continued sales of GTA 5.

NPD Hardware January 2017

Last week, the initial NPD report had PS4 topping hardware followed by Xbox One – which according to Microsoft enjoyed year-over-year (yoy) growth compared to January 2016.

PS4 sold the most units, with Xbox One coming in second place, and Nintendo’s Nintendo Classic Mini: NES in third.

“The PlayStation 4 was the best-selling hardware (in units sold) during January 2017,” said NPD analyst Sam Naji. “And for the fourth consecutive month, PlayStation 4 Slim System 500GB Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Bundle was the top-selling PS4 sku in terms of units sold.”

For the month of January 2017, hardware totaled $127 million, a decline of 19% yoy compared to $157 million in 2016.

Accessories declined 17% yoy to $155, with toys-to-life skus (ex: Skylanders, amiibo, Lego Dimensions) showing the biggest decline.

Total spent in the US on accessories, hardware and software for the month January hit $611 million. While that’s indeed as large figure, it’s 4% less compared to $637 million spent in 2016.

NPD said the lower figure was due to a decline in hardware sales and general lack of growth.

PS4 price drops to $250 for a limited time

13 Feb

Grab one of three PS4 Slim bundles for the low price of $250.

ps4_slim_bundles_temp_price_drop_1

Sony has announced a new, temporary price drop for PS4 in the US. The promotion is now in effect, and will remain available until Saturday, February 25.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered update 1.08 delivers over 170 new loot items – full patch notes

9 Feb

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered continues to expand with new content, breathing new life into a ten year old game.

call_of_duty_modern_warfare_remastered_e3_2016_Bog_1

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered may have been released as a sort of glorified collector’s edition add-on, but the support from Raven Software is more what you’d expect from a standalone new release.

The latest update, patch 1.08, adds a stack of new Depot content to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, including four new weapon kits. Each will be available via collection bounties, so you’ll need to gather or craft all the matching items to unlock the new gear.

  • Huntsman
This Sniper Class Weapon Kit gives your sniper rifles the field-ready look of a working class weapon. For example, your sniper rifle can look camouflaged like a ghillie suit or covered in duct tape.
  • Lawman
Bring a bit of the Old West to Modern Warfare with this Shotgun Class Weapon Kit. You’ll feel like a gunslinger when your shotguns have the look and feel of high-class weapons from Western Americana, complete with filigreed details and wood stocks.
  • Battle-scarred
If you like to get up close and personal, then the SMG is probably one of your workhorse weapons. The Battle-Scarred Weapon Kit will make your weapons look like they have been through many a firefight, scars and all.
  • Czar
The Czar Weapon Kit provides the look of pure gold to your LMGs, putting the bling in your loadout and onto the field of battle. These golden guns are over the top, flashy, and deadly as ever.

There are also three new weapon collection bounties, and Raven has asked Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered to provide feedback on how they fit into the sandbox; it doesn’t want to upset a decade-old balance too much.

  • Kamchatka-12
This is a fully-automatic, 12-gauge shotgun of Russian origin, and features an 8-round detachable box magazine.
  • XM-LAR
This fully automatic assault rifle comes from the European theater, and utilizes 7.62x51mm NATO cartridges in a 30-round detachable box.
  • .44 Magnum
This is the classic .44 Magnum six-round revolver, featuring a stylized military grip and signature long barrel.

Raven has also added two new melee weapons to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. Gladiator is a sword based on the Roman legionary’s standard-issue gladius blade, while the Hatchetman is a military axe.

The bulk of the update is customisation, so you’ll also find four new weapon camo sets with 39 new weapon camos total, 31 new calling card options, 39 new emblems, and 39 new reticles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered once you’ve grabbed the patch.

Here are the full patch notes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered update 1.08:

    General

  • Reduced size of total MWR package from 75GB to ~60GB (Xbox One only)
  • Spawn improvements
  • Collateral Damage fix
  • C4 will now stick to Helicopters
  • Environmental and Melee Kill Stats will no longer reset on Prestige
  • Melee Weapon crosshairs will change color when over an enemy that is in range of a melee attack
  • Still give match bonus if the other player quits Cage Match

Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Crossbow Guide – How to Find, Upgrades

2 Feb

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Crossbow Wonder Weapon Guide to help you find the weapon and upgrade it.

Being a Wonder Weapon, the crossbow does not pack a whole lot of ammunition, but it certainly hits harder than regular weapons. Its sheer damage output makes it ideal to use against hordes and the boss fight.

For more help on Rave in the Redwoods Zombies, read out our Easter Egg Completion Guide, Pack-a-Punch Location Guide, and Activating Power Guide.

Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Crossbow Wonder Weapon Guide

In our Rave in the Redwoods Crossbow Wonder Weapon Guide, we have detailed everything you need to know about finding and upgrading the crossbow.

Find the Crossbow

In order to collect the crossbow, you need to find different items scattered around the map. The first of which is a sausage from a bucket.

To get the sausage, head over to the Projector Area on the Turtle Island. It is the same room where Pack-a-Punch Machine is located. You can check out our Pack-a-Punch Machine Location Guide attached above for more information.

After you have found the sausage, you need to collect three deer heads. To get them, activate the Rave Mode and find three deer heads inside the Mess Hall, spawn area, and the Owl Camp.

You need to visit each of these deer heads one by one, toss a sausage at them, shoot them as they fly away, and pick up the item.

This is basically all you need to do in order to collect the crossbow from the spawn area.

Upgrade the Crossbow

In order to upgrade the crossbow, you need to find four parts, place them on the platform below DJ’s deck, and upgrade it.

Part #1

The first one which is an animal head can be picked up from the bench in the boathouse or in Camp Wolf.

Part #2

The second one is an eagle can be picked up from under the boats at the lake or just before the Camp Wolf.

Part #3

The third one which is an owl can be picked up from the terrace of cabin’s restroom or from the bonfire in the main area.

Part #4

The final one which is a wolf can be picked up from the picnic bench in either Camp Wolf or at the docks.

With all four parts at your disposal, place them on DJ’s equipment one by one and kill zombies in its vicinity to charge them. With that out of the way, the important part begins.

At this point, what you need to do is to find an animal totem corresponding to the statue you have. Each statue signifies an upgrade so you can basically choose an upgrade from a total of four.

The owl is acid rain upgrade, Wolf is the lighting upgrade, Deer is thunder upgrade, and the eagle is trap upgrade. What you basically need to do is to head to the large animal totem corresponding to the upgrade you want, kill zombies in its vicinity to charge it, and get the upgrade.

The Owl Totem is located near the Cabins sign in Camp Owl, the Eagle Totem is located on the backside of the bonfire in Adventure Course, the Wolf Totem is located near the sign outside of Mess Hall, and the Deer Totem is placed near the lake.

This is all we have on our Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Crossbow Wonder Weapon Guide. If there is anything else you would like to add, let us know in the comments section below!

Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Buildable Parts Locations ‘Photos Locations Guide

31 Jan

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Buildable Parts Locations Guide to help you get all the Sticker Parts and craft various pieces of equipment.

Rave in the Redwoods features different Buildable Items that can be crafted. In order to craft these Buildable Items, you need Sticker Parts which are scattered all across the map. Similar to Zombies in Spaceland, the number of Sticker Parts required to build an item varies.

For more help on more Rave in the Redwoods Zombies, read out our Easter Egg Completion Guide, Activating Power Guide, and Pack-a-Punch Guide.

Rave in the Redwoods Buildable Parts Locations Guide

The map’s inventory is divided into Photos, Charms, and Badges. We do not really have much information on Charms and Badges as of now, but Photos can essentially be considered as Sticker Parts.

In our Rave in the Redwoods Buildable Parts Locations Guide, we have detailed the locations of all available Buildable Parts on the map.

Buildable Items

Boat Propeller

Sticker Parts: x3

You must build the propeller in order to progress through the Easter Egg and in order to locate the Pack-a-Punch Machine.

The first part is located inside the Mess Hall, after heading inside the second room. The second part is located in the same room as Tuff Nuff Jugger-Nog. The final part is located in the Recreational Area with all the white/red flags.

Projector

Sticker Parts: x2

You must build this one if you wish to access the Pack-a-Punch Machine. In order to get the Projector, you need to find two Film Reels. The first one is located right next to the boat. The second one is near the bonfire on the Turtle Island.

Photo

Sticker Parts: x3

This one requires you to find three photos and complete a ritual. However, before finding the photos, you must speak with Kevin Smith using the radio located in the Projector Room.

The first one is found on the upper level of the Recreational Area. The second one is found inside the Generator Room where you activate the power. The final one is found on the terrace above the spawn area.

Once you have found the photos, it is time to move on and find three Ritual Items. The first one is right in front of the Bang Bang machine. The second one is located near the fire in the Adventure Course. The final one is located inside the Recreational Area, next to Quickies.

With everything at your disposal, you need to head over to the Ritual Site, place items, and go on a zombie killing rampage. You must wait for a round between each photo and speak with Kevin from the Projector Room and complete the ritual for each photo.

Once the ritual is completed, grab the item to clean the photo.

This guide is currently work-in-progress. We will add more Buildable Parts and share the locations of Charms and Badges in days to come.

This is all we have on our Rave in the Redwoods Buildable Parts Locations Guide. If there is anything you would like to add, let us know in the comments section below!

Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Guide – How to Turn On Power, Find Generator Room

31 Jan

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Guide to help you locate the Generator Room and turn on the power.

Unlike Zombies in Spaceland, there are no longer different power switches. There is only a single power switch located inside the Generator Room.

It is a good idea to activate this power switch as early as possible because it not only allows you to restore power on the map, but also provides access to different unlocks, perks, and plays a crucial role in the completion of the Easter Egg.

For more help on Rave in the Redwoods Zombies, read out our Easter Egg Completion Guide, Pack-a-Punch Guide, and Buildable Parts Locations Guide.

Rave in the Redwoods Guide to Activate Power

In our Rave in the Redwoods Guide to Activate Power, we have detailed all the steps needed to access the Generator Room and turn on the power.

How to Activate Power

As mentioned earlier, in order to activate the power, you need to head over to the Generator Room. In order to do that, head outside from the right-hand side door near the hearth.

Once outside, continue forward and cross the wooden bridge, and proceed towards the Mess Hall. Continue through the Mess Hall and exit on the other side – you should be able to see a signpost nearby.

From the signpost, veer left towards the cabins. Sticking to this path should lead you to the Camp Wolf with a sign right in front of you. Continue along the path and you should arrive into Old Marvin Mine.

From there, head inside the tunnel and exit to your immediate right. A little ahead, head down the stairs and head past the minecart. At this point, you need to into another tunnel and arrive inside the Generator Room.

Now all that remains is to pull the power switch that should allow you to activate the power and reveal a secret staircase leading you to the spawn area.

31 Jan

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Pack-a-Punch Guide to help you find the machine in order to upgrade your weapons and complete the Easter Egg.

Similar to previous iterations of Zombies Mode, there is a Pack-a-Punch Machine that can be found in Rave in the Redwoods. It is a good idea to find the machine as early as possible because it not only allows you to upgrade your weapons, but is also required for the completion of the elaborative Easter Egg.

For more help on Rave in the Redwoods Zombies, read out our Easter Egg Completion Guide, Buildable Part Locations Guide, and Activating Power Guide.

Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Pack-a-Punch Guide

In our Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Pack-a-Punch Guide, we have detailed everything you need to know about finding the Pack-a-Punch in the game.

Pack-a-Punch Location

The first thing that you need to know understand is that the Pack-a-Punch Machine is not located on the main island. It is basically located on a separate island which can only be accessed by a boat.

However, the boat is no working order and must be repaired before it could be used. In order to fix the boat, you need to find Propeller Parts located across the map.

Propeller Parts Locations

The first one is found inside the Mess Hall. After heading inside the Mess Hall, get inside the room right next to the pillar in order to find it. The second one is located in the same room where the Tuff Nuff Jugger-Nog is located.

As for the final one, it is located in the Recreational Area. After heading there, you need to proceed towards the area with all the white/red flags and you should easily be able to spot it.

With all three Propeller Parts at your disposal, head towards the Boat House and find the broken boat. After fixing the boat, head inside the boat, and head to the Turtle Island.

Once you arrive at the Turtle Island, head to the Projector Room which basically leads to the Pack-a-Punch. However, you cannot use the projector without first finding the Film Reels which are located on the island.

Film Reels Locations

The first one is located near the area from where you acquired the boat. The second one is located is located on the Turtle Island, near the bonfire.

Once you have found both the Film Reels, use the projector which will open up a portal, allowing you access the Pack-a-Punch Machine.

This is all we have on our Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Pack-a-Punch Guide. If there is anything else you would like to add, let us know in the comments section below!

Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Easter Egg Steps Guide

31 Jan

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Easter Egg Steps Guide to help you complete the elaborative Easter Egg with our step-by-step guide.

Similar to Zombies Mode featured in earlier Call of Duty games, there is an elaborative Easter Egg that can be completed in Rave in the Redwoods. Completing the Easter Egg involves multiple steps i.e. restoring power, finding Pack-a-Punch, etc.

For more help on Rave in the Redwoods Zombies, read out our Pack-a-Punch Locations Guide and Activating Power Guide.

Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Easter Egg Steps Guide

In our Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Easter Egg Steps Guide, we have detailed all the steps involved in completing the Easter Egg and unlocking the final cut-scene.

Infinite Warfare Zombies Rave in the Redwoods Easter Egg Steps

Step #1 – Activating the Power

In order to turn on the power, you need to head over to the generator room. To do that, head outside from the door near the fireplace. A little ahead, take the wooden bridge and proceed towards the Mess Hall.

You need to progress through the Mess Hall and head outside from the other side. From the signpost, head left towards the cabins. The path should lead you to the Camp Wolf with a sign a little ahead.

After you head into Old Marvin Mine, proceed through the tunnel, and head to your immediate right. Head down the stairs and go past the minecart. From this point, head into another tunnel and you should be able to find yourself in the generator room.

Now simply pull the switch to activate the power and find a secret staircase leading you back into the spawn area.

Step #2 – Pack a Punch

Finding Pack-a-Punch in Rave in the Redwoodss require some work. It is actually located on a separate island which can only be reached using a boat. However, you need three propeller parts in order to fix the boat.

These parts are located in the Mess Hall, Recreational Area, and near Tuff Nuff Jugger-Nog. With the boat fixed, head towards the Turtle Island where you will find a projector that reveals Pack-a-Punch.

In order to use the projector, you need to find two Film Reels – one is located near the docks and the other one is near the fire.

This should allow you to activate the projector in order to summon a portal that leads into the Pack-a-Punch area.

Step #3 – Kevin Smith

While you are in the projector area, interact with the radio placed nearby to speak with the Kevin Smith and gather some hints detailing how to complete the Easter Egg.

Step #4 – Finding Photos

After speaking with Kevin Smith, you must find three photos, three ritual items, and complete the ritual. In this section, I have listed the locations of all photos:

Photo #1
The first one is found on the upper level of the Recreational Area.

Photo #2
The second one is found inside the Generator Room where you activate the power.

Photo #3
The final one is found on the terrace above the spawn area.

Step #5 – Finding Ritual Items

Once you have found the photos, it is time to move on and find three Ritual Items:

Ritual Item #1
The first one is right in front of the Bang Bang machine.

Ritual Item #2
The second one is located near the fire in the Adventure Course.

Ritual Item #3
The final one is located inside the Recreational Area, next to Quickies.

Step #6 – Completing the Ritual

With everything at your disposal, you need to head over to the Ritual Site, place items, and go on a zombie killing rampage. You must wait a round between each photo and speak with Kevin from the Projector Room and complete the ritual for each photo.

Once the ritual is completed, grab the item, and get ready for a boss fight.

Step #7 – Boss Fight

Once you are done with the ritual, you need to head over to the boat, and get teleported to the boss arena.

After you get to the boss arena, try to leave the boss be, and focus all your attention on killing the zombies near the blue balls in order to collect their souls and fill the orbs.

Once you have successfully done it, try to lure the boss into the sigil drawn on the ground, and deal as much damage as possible. This sigil basically immobilizes the boss for a couple of seconds which is plenty to deal some damage.

After you are done with the second phase, the boss will have different markings on its body; signifying its weak spots. What you need to do is to simply target the weak spots and you should be able to complete the Easter Egg in no time.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s first DLC pack is out today and the trailer will have your trigger finger itching like crazy

31 Jan

The first Infinite Warfare DLC pack is here and in case you weren’t fully committed to picking it up, Activision unleashed one hell of a trailer.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Sabotage DLC pack drops today and the trailer looks fantastic.

Sabotage was announced in December last year and brings with it four new maps and more zombies.

Rave in the Redwoods got its own zombie oriented trailer last week but today’s trailer gives us a look at the all-new multiplayer maps including Dominion, a re-imagining of the classic Modern Warfare 2 map Afghan, set on Mars.

The trailer also showed off Neon’s digital city, Noir’s Brooklyn at night, and Renaissance’s idyllic Venice.

Sabotage is available on PS4 today as part of the $50 season pass or for $15 as a standalone.

PC and Xbox One release dates still haven’t been announced.
