Nioh Sub Missions Guide – Complete Every Sub Mission

10 Feb

Nioh Sub Missions Guide to walk you through every side-mission in the game to earn a ton of rewards and attain 100% game completion status.

Sub Missions in Nioh are missions which are not required to finish the game. You must, however, complete these Nioh Sub Missions if you wish to ‘Platinum’ the game.

Each region in the game features some Sub Missions which vary in difficulty. There are some missions which require you to simply find an item or two and then there are some which pit you again multiple enemies and even bosses.

For more help on Nioh, read out our Bosses Guide, Character Builds Guide, and Amrita Farming Guide.

Nioh Sub Missions Guide

In our Nioh Sub Missions Guide, we’ve detailed everything you need to know to complete each and every Nioh Sub Mission.

Nioh Sub Missions Walkthrough Guide

Kyushu Region

Death to Bandits
Recommended Level: 10
Rewards: Young Samurai’s Locks x1, Lightning Amulet x4, Bandit Axe, and Minoden Dual Tachi

This sub mission unlocks after the completion of Isle of Demons.

It basically tasks you to take out the Bandit Leader who is no pushover. To do so, you need to head all the way to beginning – towards the first Shrine. Once there, you should be able to spot the Bandit Leader inside a house with another companion.

Try to snipe the companion and take on the fight one-on-one. The Bandit Leader essentially fights like a rogue, but has a larger HP pool.

You need to make sure that you avoid his combo strings and then land all your attacks. As long as you don’t get hit by his combo, you should be good. Eliminate the Bandit Leader in order to complete this simple sub mission.

Wreathed in Flame
Recommended Level: 13
Rewards: Hyottoko Mask x1, Kayaku-dama x3, Spirit Iron Chunk x2, and Mikazuki Kusarigama

This sub mission is received from Okatsu after the completion of Deep in the Shadows.

After arriving in the burning village, try to scale the rooftops in the area and you should easily be able to spot a new type of enemy – the fire wheel demon, I like to call them.

Your task is as simple as it can get! All you need to do is to get rid of these wheel demons and you should complete the mission.

Finders Keepers
Recommended Level: 15
Rewards: Prostrate Gesture, Ikkoku Nagayoshi Spear Earth, Smithing Text: The Ragin Bull Armor, and The Raging Bull: Hizayoroi

This sub mission unlocks after the completion of Deep in the Shadows and tasks you to find a sword.

The sword in question is in the possession of a rare monster who tries to flee at the sight of you. After starting the mission, try to get rid of all enemies in the area and then look for a yokai with its back glowing.

This is the enemy that you need to kill in order to retrieve the sword and complete the sub mission.

Kanbei and the Overlord
Recommended Level: 18
Rewards: Guardian Spirit Mizuchi, Heshikiri Hasebe, Smithing Text: Heshikiri Hasebe, and Legendary Strategist’s Garb: Kinu

Once you’ve successfully completed Finders Keepers sub mission, you’ll unlock this one.

After starting the mission, you need to proceed towards the beginning of the area – where the locked boss room is located. Once you get to the area, continue to eliminate the enemies that spawn in the area till you receive a key as an item drop.

Once you’ve found the key, the mission will conclude.

A Request from Ginchiyo
Recommended Level: 21
Rewards: Smithing Text Raikiri, Summoner’s Candle x1, and High Quality Wood x5

This sub mission unlocks after the completion of The Spirit Stone Slumbers and tasks you to find an item.

After accepting the sub mission, head to your right-hand side and you should be able to see a long set of stairs leading up with a boulder resting up top. There’s a room at the top of the stairs with a chest inside that contains the item you need in order to complete the mission.

However, according to some players, it’s possible for the chest to appear in another location which is random.

Invitational from the Warrior of the West
Recommended Level: 21
Rewards: Guardian Spirit Paired Raiken, Young Samurai’s Locks x1, and Spirit Iron Chunk x2

This sub mission becomes available after the completion of A Request from Gincho and tasks you to beat Tachibana Muneshige.

This boss is incredibly agile, deals a massive amount of damage, and can quickly close in the distance. Keeping these things in mind, I recommend a weapon with a fairly decent range in mid stance so that you don’t run of Ki easily.

You need to maintain a safe distance from him and let him do his 3-4 hit combo. To dodge, you can either strafe back or simply dash backward. However, make sure to remain in range to land your own hits.

Similar to other boss battles in the game, if you manage to deplete his Ki, he’ll be open for stagger. Lastly, if you see him rolling his weapon in the air, quickly get behind a pillar in the room to avoid taking damage.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the strategy above applies to both the fights i.e. during the side-mission and the main mission.

This is all we’ve on our Nioh Sub Missions Guide. If there’s anything else you’d like to add, let us know in the comments section below!

Thanks to Hernandx16 for the awesome Logo! This update includes: An upgrade system for your troops. Hunting and a one vs. one tournament. About 10 or so new battles. Companions. Merchants items now randomize after each victory. By pressing P in your hometown or wesfrak you can put your troops into classes. Hitpoints of enemy towers are now reduced to less than half of what they were. The Hunter unit can be unlocked by trading with Quico the Hunter, he can also be upgraded through talking to Quico Keeps can now be built to help defend your tower from enemies and archers can be spawned on top of them PS. I'm sure there will be some bugs, please report them to the bugs discussion board. I didn't expand the world as much as I would have liked, I tried doing the upgrade system a couple of ways that didn't work out and it killed tons of my modding time, the next update I'll focus on really expanding the world and making it feel more sandboxy!

Nioh Best Items Guide – Must-Have Items, How to Get

10 Feb

Nioh Best Items Guide that gives an overview of some of the must-have items that you need in Nioh throughout the course of the game.

Items in Nioh are in huge abundance. These items range from usable items to key items. There are, however, some items which we absolutely recommend getting in the game to make the experience a tad more forgiving.

Most of these Nioh items can be acquired early in the game either as monster drops or from vendors.

For more help on Nioh, read out our Character Builds Guide, Stats Guide, and Leveling Up Fast Guide.

Nioh Best Items Guide

For your convenience, I’ve also listed down all the items that you can find in the game. In our Nioh Best Items Guide, we’ve detailed what we consider to be some of the must-have items in the game.

Nioh Best Items

The Book of Reincarnation
You can buy the Book of Reincarnation from Tome the Blacksmith.

This book basically resets your character to Level 1 by refunding all the Skill Points and Amrita you spent to level up your character.

So if a boss is giving you a hard time because you don’t have sufficient damage/HP or you simply want to try out a new building without creating a new character, buying the Book of Reincarnation is the answer.

One copy of the book is usable only once, but you can buy multiple copies at an increasing cost.

The first one should cost you 10,000 Gold and the second one should cost you 30,000 Gold. Therefore, make up your mind before you decide to buy them.

Summoner’s Candle
Similar to SoulsBorne games; if you die, you lose all of your Amrita at the place of your death and must get it back by traveling to the place.

However, whenever you respawn or rest at a Shrine, all the dead enemies – excluding bosses and NPCs – in the game also respawn. Due to this, it becomes a tad hard and risky to reclaim your Amrita.

The reason being: if you die again while trying to retrieve your lost Amrita, you lose it for good.

This is where the Summoner’s Candle comes in. This item basically allows you to reclaim your lost Amrita and Guardian Spirit while sitting at a Shrine; without having to travel to the place of your death.

The Travel Amulet
Those of you who have played Dark Souls must be familiar with an item called the Homeward Bone. This is exactly what the Travel Amulet is.

Suppose you’ve around 100,000 Amrita on you which you can use to level up from Level 40 to Level 50, but you’re in a place without any Shrine nearby. If you don’t know what lies ahead and don’t want to risk losing all your hard-earned Amrita, you can simply use the Travel Amulet and warp to the Shrine you last prayed at.

This item is a common enemy drop and you should find plenty of them throughout the game.

There’s another item called the Hara-kiri Sword which does the same job, but at the cost of all the Amrita in your inventory so I don’t recommend using it; especially in a situation presented above.

Whetstones
In Nioh, Whetstones can be found all across the in-game world and are also dropped by enemies.

Weapon Familiarity is a neat little concept in Nioh which allows you to increase Weapon Familiarity as you continue to use a weapon. It’s a good idea to do so because a higher Weapon Familiarity means increased damage and additional abilities.

However, continuing to use a weapon is not the only answer!

Whetstones in the game allow you to permanently gain Weapon Familiarity on all the equipped weapons. There’s another item called the Uchiko Powder which does the same job, but its effect is temporary.

Other Items

Usable Items

These are the items that you can use to gain multiple benefits.

Neutralizes the effects of poison.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew delayed, but will include bridge from original U.S.S. Enterprise

10 Feb

Ubisoft has delayed Star Trek: Bridge Crew, which was set to release next month on March 14. But, there’s a silver lining to the news.

star_trek_bridge_crew (2)

When the game releases, it will include the bridge from the original U.S.S. Enterprise.

The bridge will be playable in Star Trek: Bridge Crew, which is something developer Red Storm felt was important to add.

“We felt it was important to include a part of classic Star Trek with this game, especially during Star Trek’s 50th anniversary,” said senior creative director David Votypka. “The original U.S.S. Enterprise is such an iconic part of the franchise – it’s the ship that started it all.

“The adventures and relationships that took place on the ship are a special part of Star Trek history, so we were determined to give players the opportunity to create their own adventures and stories on this classic ship.”

Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be made available on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on May 30.

Watch us take on the massive Onryoki in our Nioh livestream

10 Feb

Want to know what all the fuss is about Nioh? Give our livestream a watch and find out.

Watch live video from vg247 on www.twitch.tv

Today, Shabana will be coming into contact with Onryoki, a giant oni which is the first “proper boss”. He’s an enormous demon that swings chain balls around. Sure, Derrick the Executioner is technically the first boss, but this guy Onryoki, well, this is not our kinda guy.

Tune in to see how she fares, as we’ve heard the game is rather hard.

Hopefully, she’s given our Nioh tips page or our guide the once over, but she’s a bit of a loose cannon. You never know with her, honestly.

Likely she’ll be “freed from this mortal coil” more than once, we imagine. Anyway, wish Shabana luck.

Nioh is available now on PlayStation 4.

Nioh Leveling Guide – How to Level Up Fast, Quick Leveling Tips

10 Feb

Nioh Leveling Guide to help you farm quick and easy Amrita which is required to level up your character in the game.

Similar to Dark Souls games, if you wish to level up fast in Nioh, you need a lot of Amrita – Nioh’s version of souls from Dark Souls games. Amrita is Nioh can be earned by almost everything i.e. killing monsters, completing objectives, offering items at a shrine, etc.

It goes without saying that Nioh is hard and death is always lurking around the corner. Keeping this in mind, you should never run around with large deposits of Amrita at your disposal and make a habit of using it to level up as much as possible.

For more help on Nioh, read out our Character Builds Guide, Skills Unlocks Guide, and Best Stats Guide.

Nioh Leveling Guide

In our Nioh Leveling Guide, we’ve detailed some of the best possible methods to earn huge amounts of Amrita during the early game.

How to Level Up Fast in Nioh

Before we begin, it’s important to learn one thing. As you continue to level up, the Amrita cost required to level up further continues to increase. For example, if it takes 100 Amrita to level up from Level 1 to Level 2, it might take 10,000 Amrita to level up from Level 60 to Level 70.

If you die with some amount of Amrita in your bank, you’ll lose all of it at the place of your death and will respawn at the last shrine you prayed at. You can obviously travel all the way to the place where you died and reclaim all the lost Amrita once again, but it’s not as simple.

The reason is: once you die, all the enemies in the world – excluding bosses and NPCs – respawn as well. Therefore, it’s important to remember that if you die while trying to retrieve your lost Amrita, you’ll lose them forever.

All things considered; it’s a good idea to spend your Nioh Amrita frequently unless you’re super confident in your abilities.

Nioh Level Up Fast Method #1
For this method, you need to defeat the boss in the Isle of Demon. Once you’re done, head over to the shrine near the hot spring and rest there. After leveling and healing up, head inside the room on the right-hand side.

In there, you should be able to find x3 yokai monsters. Simply kill all of them and earn around 1,200 Amrita in under a minute. Since the shrine is incredibly close to your location, rest at the shrine, and repeat the process.

As long as you’re doing everything right, you should easily be able to earn somewhere around 12,000 in under an hour which is huge in the early game.

Nioh Level Up Fast Method #2
For this method, you need to start Finders Keepers submission which is received from Kuroda Nagamasa and tasks you to find a sword called Heshi-Kiri-Hasebe from a cave under the Mountain of Nakatsu.

It’s a pretty straightforward submission which requires you to kill some regular yokai monsters. However, for the sake of leveling up fast, we’re not interested in regular monsters. Instead, we’re interested in monsters with glowing backs.

Usually, these monsters will make a run for it after seeing you, but if you manage to chase them down, you’ll get a hefty amount of Amrita as well as Gold. Moreover, these enemies drop valuable loot which can also be offered up at the shrine for even more Amrita.

The entire process should take you about 5-6 minutes and should yield around 50,000 Amrita for 5 tries. This is, once again, a pretty decent method for Nioh power leveling if you’re struggling with the early game.

This is all we’ve on our Nioh Leveling Guide. Don’t forget to share your own leveling up fast methods with us in the comments section below!

Dungeon Tails Review: Maximum Family Fun

10 Feb

Dungeon Tails, the latest offering from Timbermint Games, has been billed as ‘easy to learn, hard to beat’, but there’s more than meets the eye behind this bright and colourful rougelike 3D action adventure. For newcomers to this type of game, the learning curve can feel rather steep, even if the controls are straightforward enough. On the plus side, it’s exactly the type of game that’s likely to appeal to the whole family. So the worst case scenario is you have to ask your niece, son, sister or grandfather for help getting started.

Dungeon Tails Gameplay

In Dungeon Tails, at the start of each game you’re randomly assigned one of five heroes, each with their own unique personality and name (like Forgwald or Eggbelly). Your task is to lead your hero through 16 levels of increasing difficulty and complexity. Sounds simple enough right? It is, well until you realise that in true rougelike fashion, the levels are randomly generated using a selection of 50 rooms. This means that no two attempts at the same level number are going to be the same, making it harder to learn from your mistakes. It also means that on one attempt you might get to roam ten rooms collecting items before confronting a major monster, while on the next you can find yourself fighting for your life in room two.

The monsters, like the heroes, might look harmless or even friendly, but make no mistake, they sure do pack a punch! Attacks are telegraphed, meaning you have some idea of their range and power. Still, this often isn’t enough information to help you really battle strategically. In fact, sometimes the telegraphing is a hindrance more than a help because when you’re boxed in by objects all the indicators do is add insult to injury – there’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. As a result, the fights have more of an arcade feel than the rest of the game.

Dungeon Tails Gameplay 2

For those new to rougelike games, it’s also important to go in with the understanding that when you’re ‘knocked out’ it’s game over. There are no second chances, not even for a fee. When you start your new game, if you’re lucky enough to get the same hero, you start back on the last level you beat. Otherwise, it’s back to the beginning, but with shortcuts through the levels already completed. Because the stakes are high, Dungeon Tails is a game to invest time in rather than a time-waster. There’s no way to win if you aren’t paying close attention.

If you do choose to invest your time in Dungeon Tails, you’ll be rewarded with a game that’s impressive in its depth and challenge. Even after dozens of attempts at the same level, there’s nothing that really feels repetitive about the game. Perhaps the best thing about it is that whether you’re taking turns with the family iPad and cheering each other on, or playing alone together in the same room, it’s a rare game that is likely to appeal equally to gamers of all ages. Dungeon Tails may not make many games of the year lists when 2017 is over, but the experience is unlikely to be forgotten by anyone that gives it a try.
