This week’s Battlefield 1 custom game is called Line of Sight and only allows Medics and Scouts

30 Nov

Battlefield 1 narrows focus in the latest rotating, experimental game mode.

battlefield_1_elite_classes_2

Battlefield 1‘s first custom game, Fog of War, will be replaced with a new mode called Line of Sight this week.

A variant of base Battlefield 1 mode Rush, Line of Sight is populated by Medics and Scouts only. All Scouts deal double bullet damage, so Medics will have to be on their toes.

DICE announced the mode on the Battlefield website today as it outlined Battlefield 1’s immediate road map. The next major stop is the arrival of December’s free map, Giant’s Shadow, which is set in 1918 during the Battle of the Selle. The first Battlefield 1 expansion, They Shall Not Pass, is due in March 2017.

In the interim, expect new Battlefield 1 custom games and other events; DICE hinted as much last time it gave us a Battlefield 1 roadmap outline.

We can expect Battlefield 1 support to continue for quite some time, as EA has said there won’t be a new Battlefield game for a few years.

Battlefield 1 looks likely to go down as this year’s biggest shooter release, despite competition from Titanfall 2 and Destiny: Rise of Iron. Stay tuned for year-end charts in January for the verdict.

Overwatch cheaters squirm and tantrum as Blizzard brings ban hammer down on “undetectable” hacks

30 Nov

Overwatch massive, it’s time for some glorious schadenfreude.

sombra_overwatch

Overwatch cheaters have been hit by another wave of permanent bans, and we can enjoy their suffering at our leisure.

Overwatch Battle.net forum user Starcatraz (via Kotaku) is doing good work in browsing the forums frequented by cheaters in order to harvest their salty tears in the wake of the latest bans.

Making it all the more delicious, it turns out there are a couple of Overwatch hacks which have been described as undetectable by creator and users – and they’re, uh, definitely detectable.

“I’m so ****ing pissed I literally run the hack 1 time which was yesterday and I get banned on my only Overwatch account I just bought and now the sale is over. ****ing people told me that the hack is undetected,” one cheater wrote. (Blizzard or the OP edited the swears, but I’m sure we can guess what they were.)

“Here comes the wave ban, for those (like me) who thought blizzard could not detect [hack]. GG guys,” another said.

Here’s an array of similar complaints regarding “undetectable” Overwatch cheats:

  • “Did your hack get detected as well?”
  • “Yo, banned after using OverJoint for a day. Running on super low settings, but I guess it was detected?”
  • “Please update this as detected. I used the hack probably 10 times and never once got a POTG with it and never raged killed everyone. Yet I have been banned.”

With a bit of fiddling around banned Overwatch players can get online again, but they have to repurchase the game and make a new Battle.net account along with various other measures to convince Blizzard you’re not the same old dodgy cheater. One cheater said they’d gone through this process seven times.

You can understand why these Overwatch cheaters would be angry at the people who told them they could use the hacks safely, but it’s harder to be sympathetic to those who are angry at Blizzard for doing what it has always said it would do to Overwatch cheaters.

“I’m going to sue Blizzard, who wants to join me?” another said, showing an exciting lack of understanding of Overwatch’s Terms of Service.

“I’ll join you, we’ll have a solid class action lawsuit,” said another highly optimistic Overwatch cheater.

Don’t cheat in Overwatch, cats. Just … don’t.

There’s another big Dishonored 2 PC patch in beta on Steam right now if you want to check it out

30 Nov

Dishonored 2 is a bit rough on PC, but Arkane certainly isn’t letting it abide.

dishonored_2_concept

Still having trouble with Dishonored 2 on PC after a couple of patches? Never mind, here’s another one.

As with the last two Dishonored 2 PC beta patches, this one is largely focused on performance, optimisation and fixing issues. It does add one new feature though: the ability to turn off camera motion blur, if that’s something that bothers you.

Digital Foundry savaged the PC port of Dishonored 2, going so far as to say it had “no business” shipping. I hope that hasn’t been your experience with it; I had a lovely time on PS4.

For more information on how to opt into the beta patch, visit the Dishonored 2 hub on Steam.

The full patch notes for the latest Dishonored 2 beta update are below. You’ll note they end with some known issues; we can no doubt expect further patching in the future.

  • Fixed a bug where pressing “No” in the confirmation prompt when changing Triple Buffering setting sometimes made the prompt appear again
    Display / Monitor

  • Fixed a bug with multiple monitors which caused the game to not display on the primary monitor by default
  • Fixed a bug which caused some UI elements to be misplaced when using 5:4 or 4:3 aspect ratios

We’re livestreaming Final Fantasy 15: say so long to hunting – it’s time for the main quest

30 Nov

It’s time for another Final Fantasy 15 livestream, and this time, it’s all about the main questline.

Watch live video from vg247 on www.twitch.tv

Shabana says she’s sick of hunting, so she’s going to do some questing this time out instead.

“Something about getting on a ferry to go get married. I’ve been procrastinating. A LOT,” she said.

Maybe I wasn’t supposed to mention that bit – but there it is anyway. Ha!

Anyway, whatever she decides to do today, wish her well as rides across the game world in the Regalia with her buddies, bro-fisting.

Final Fantasy 15 was released earlier this week for PS4 and Xbox One. Which you know already, unless you’ve been in hiding someplace for the last ten years.

We won’t get our hands on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice until sometime in 2017

30 Nov

Ninja Theory has announced Hellblade has been delayed, but for a number of good reasons.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will not release on PC and PS4 2016 as planned, but has been pushed into 2017 instead. When in 2017 wasn’t stated, but considering all the work going into the game and the lack of updates recently, the delay doesn’t really come as a surprise.

According to the developer, the game is progressing well, but not as quickly as the team would like. The studio is developing the title independently in order to keep decisions make in its own hands. Plus, rushing the game would result in a less quality product, something the team is “unwilling to entertain.”

Another reason for the delay, per the video above (thanks, PCgamesN), was the cancellation of a project at the studio which earlier this year, which “took time to sort out.”

The firm also had the opportunity to collaborate with Epic Games and others to “push performance capture technology forward” for the industry.

Because the team wanted to share the game’s development with the public, announcing a game two years in advance may seem a bit early to some. But, had Ninja Theory chosen the typical publisher route, it would just now be announcing the game as the video states.

Plus, the transparent and interesting way Ninja Theory is going about it, well, it’s rather nice to be brought along for the ride. So, take as long as you need, folks. We’ll be right here waiting when you’re finished.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be released simultaneously on PC and PS4.

For more help on Final Fantasy XV, read out our Hunts Locations Guide, Max AP Build Guide, and Best Character Builds Guide.

Final Fantasy XV Fishing Spots Locations Guide

In our Final Fantasy XV Fishing Spots Locations Guide, we have detailed the locations in which you can find all available fishes in the game.

Fishing – How to

After choosing your equipment from the Tackle Menu, toss your lure into the water – a blue marker represents the area where it lands. You need to use this marker in conjunction to mini-map on top-right corner of the screen, detailing the areas where fishes are.

Remember that yellow are edible fishes and blue are fishes which yield treasure. Once you have the line in the water, you should be able to adjust its direction. The idea is to attract target’s attention which is represented by a bar at the top of the screen.

Ideally, you need to fill this entire bar. As soon as you see the target fish take a bite of lure, a battle will start. Winning this battle should allow you to catch your target fish.
