Vehicles are a high value commodity on Battle Royale for a wide variety of reasons. For one they provide added protection, two they greatly increase your mobility, and three they act as another form of storage. Finding one however can be tricky business, especially with how much they stand out and the fact that everyone else on the map will be gunning for them.

First off, you’ll need to know where to find vehicles, and while their spawn location will be different every game, there are some hot spots you can check out. Police stations are usually a sure thing with each having at least one police car in the lot.

Apart from that you’ll want to check out an areas where there’s civilization. Groups of houses, grocery store parking lots, all have been known to spawn cars. Don’t run into the forest and expect to come across a jeep sitting there will a full tank of Biofuel.

If you want to add a little more accuracy to your vehicle search, there are some online tools to help. H1Z1DB has one that will give you the exact locations of the vehicle spawns, and some other helpful info.

Vehicle Strategy

You’ve got your ride and some Biofuel and you’re ready to win this thing, now what. Well just having the car gives you a large advantage over anyone who doesn’t so congratulations. The way in which you use it now comes down to your individual playstyle, but here are some general strategies and tips for using the car that you can’t go wrong with.

  • Don’t get shot. Vehicles are delicate things. Even a clips worth of M9 bullets is enough to deal heavy damage to a fully functional car.
  • Use your mobility to avoid heavy firefights. Let the other players kill each other while you use your car to stick near the gas for cover. When the cloud starts moving in, you’re high speed will allow you to stick deadly close to the toxic haze which will keep you out of the center of the safe zone, a terrible place to be.
  • Cars can be used for extra storage. Stow any extra gear in your car to save space in your inventory. Extra helmets and body armor are always useful but take up a lot of space. Throw them in the trunk.
  • Use your car for cover. It’s tough to take the hits, but when it comes down to living or losing your car, there’s no real contest.
  • Splatter kills. Do not forget the importance of the splatter kills. If you’ve got enough momentum, you can one hit kill pedestrians with your car, saving valuable ammunition and allowing you to stay safe in your whip.
  • Lock it up. When you jump out of your car to loot or go hunting, take a crucial piece of the car with you when you go so no one can just jump in it a race off while you’re not looking.

What are your favorite vehicle strategies for Battle Royale? Let us know in the comments!

Patch 6.2.3 Valor Points Overview

31 Oct
VP Item Upgrade

Gameplay

Fans of Valor Points rejoice, this defunct currency is being brought back from the removed features graveyard. Patch 6.2.3 will include a return to this form of currency as a method to purchase PvE related gear. This decision to reinstate this currency was a surprise to many players since Valor Points were removed from the game at the start of Warlords of Dreanor. The impression was that the currency was gone for good, but clearly what is dead may never die.

Valor Points Past

Up until the end of Mists of Pandaria, Valor Points (also known as VP) were the upper-level currency awarded for participating in PvE encounters. Typically, these included raids and heroic dungeons. During this time period VP had a weekly cap of 1,000, with a total cap of 3,000. Coupled with Justice Points, the lower-level PvE currency, this was a major way players geared up during previous expansions. However, not all players enjoyed earning this currency; so the removal at the start of Warlords was met with a mixture of both fury and joy.

Patch 6.2.3 Valor Points Overview

Valor Points in Patch 6.2.3 abide but the rules have changed slightly. Once again, Valor Points will be a valid and sought after form of currency in game. Players will earn Valor for taking part in specific PvE related endeavors. Sounds pretty similar to old VP right?

Well things are about to get freaky. Valor Points in Warlords no longer have a hard cap. It seems you may eventually run out of ways to earn points, but there is no other limitations on earning. Also different in this fresh version of this old currency; Valor Points will not actually buy you gear items. Instead, they will be used to purchase upgrades for your current gear. Intrigued? Read onward to find out the nitty gritty details of Valor Points.

Earning Valor Points

Earning Valor Points will require the player to participate in various PvE related activities. Currently, the following ways to earn points have been announced:

  • Mythic Dungeons – Awarded at dungeon completion, once per dungeon per week – 300 Valor Points
  • Weekly Event Quest – Obtained from Seer Kazal once a week, Pet Battle Event excluded – 500 Valor Points
  • Heroic Dungeons – First Random Heroic of the day – 100 Valor Points
  • Raid Finder Wing – Once per week per wing – 150 Valor Points (HC)/75 Valor Points (Highmaul and BF)

Right now it seems like we have a pretty good mixture of content to choose from that should help to satisfy the needs of every player. Not to mention, that with Patch 6.2.3 still a ways off, more ways to earn Valor Points may be announced in the future. Keep checking back for updates!

Valor Points Cap

The new version of Valor Points will have no hard cap. This means that there is no limit to how many of these little beauties you can have at any one time. However, that does not mean you can farm them to your heart's content. While there are quite a few ways to earn Valor Points (as outlined above), they are intentionally limited and not able to be repeated infinitely. After you have completed all the activities, most of which are on a weekly timer. You will have to wait for the reset to start collecting points again.

Spending Valor Points

Once you earn some Valor Points, you probably won't just want to sit around looking at them. Chances are you are going to want to spend them. This time around, Valor Points will not be spent on items. Developers didn't want gear obtained with points to compete with other gear. Instead, players will be able to purchase item upgrades for their current gear, making Valor Points a compliment to other gear sources rather than a detriment.

As things currently stand upgrading an item will cost you 250 Valor Points for +5 item levels. Hellfire Citadel items, Dungeon loot, Baleful items, and crafted gear can be upgraded twice. This means that players will need to spend 500 Valor Points to upgrade an item the full +10 item levels. Item upgrades can be purchased from an ethereal NPC found in Orgrimmar, and Stormwind, or Stormshield and Warspear.

Please note that this information is obtained from the current state of Valor Points on the PTR. Any and all information could (and most likely will) change at any time until the patch is completed. Check back for updates as these changes are made!

Halo 5 Guardians Orion Multiplayer Arena Map Tips, Best Positions, Strategy

31 Oct

Orion is an asymmetrical multiplayer map in Halo 5 Guardians that encourages long-ranged weaponry and play. You’ll need to have good accuracy and a precision-based loadout to succeed in this highly vertical map.

Game Modes
Slayer, Strongholds

Key Weapons & Power-ups
Railgun (3 minutes respawn)
Sniper Rifle (3 minutes respawn)
Damage Boost (2 minutes respawn)

Best Positions
Tower – The Tower near the Blue Base can gives the Blue team a slight advantage as it is the highest vantage point in the game, and almost every part of the map is visible from it.

Control of the Tower after obtaining the Railgun or Sniper Rifle can greatly turn the tide of battle. The best counter for a team controlling the Tower is to get a long-ranged weapon and eliminate anyone on the Tower, specifically any long-ranged opponent.

Orion Map Tips and Strategy
Orion is a fairly open map, which means there are going to be a lot of long-ranged exchanges going on. Blue team starts at a slight advantage because of the nearby Tower. Blue team can easily head to the Tower and start harassing Red team with good shots, all the while covering the Railgun.

You can also move towards the Damage Boost at Viewpoint, either to secure it for later use or to aggressively assault the Red team as they are near House and Top Mid.

Red team starts at a slight disadvantage, but have the ability to take the DMR and head straight to Top Mid to acquire the Rail Gun. Once they do, they can have a significant advantage and take care of anyone at the Tower.

If acquiring the Rail Gun fails, head for the Sniper Rifle instead. It can be difficult to do so, especially if the enemy is positioned well at the Tower. Control of the Sniper Rifle and/or Rail Gun is extremely important in the map, and often teams will mainly battle it out for those two weapons.

The vertical nature and the openness of the map encourages long-ranged weaponry, so make sure your loadout meets those requirements in order to make it slightly easier for you and your team to get to one or both of these weapons.

The Damage Boost’s location largely favors Blue team, but Red team can make it redundant by acquiring the two superior long-ranged weapons. Simple have one player constantly watching over the Damage Boost while the rest attempt to assault Blue base. Use grenades to clear out Tower roofs and Top Mid.

The lower parts of the map should not be overlooked either. There are enough tall structures to allow players to flank using the Cave, Trenches, and Courtyard with care.

Make sure to crouch-walk so not to give your location away to the enemy. This can be a great way to take out any sniper or Railgun user without exposing yourself too much.

Halo 5 Guardians Pegasus Multiplayer Arena Map Tips, Best Positions, Strategy

31 Oct

Pegasus is an asymmetrical multiplayer map in Halo 5 Guardians that encourages precision weaponry. It’s a fairly large map, having multiple angles that force players to stay on the move.

Game Modes
Slayer, Strongholds

Key Weapons & Power-ups
Rocket Launcher (2 minutes respawn)
Sniper Rifle (3 minutes respawn)
Overshield (2 minutes respawn)

Best Positions
Outside – The ledges outside in the northern part of the map offer a large tactical advantage to whoever goes to them first.

One of the ledges is next to a vent with horizontal bars. You can fire through these bars to shoot opponents on the other side who are going after the Sniper Rifle at the Overlook or towards the Blue Spawn.

You can even continue to jump, thrust, and clamber on to the Blue Spawn yourself to get to the Overshield from behind. This can be an excellent flanking technique, especially for Red team.

Be careful though, as it’s easy to fall of the ledges, and even easier for aware enemies to throw you offer with some good shots or a grenade.

Pegasus Map Tips and Strategy
Pegasus is a fairly large map, and its asymmetry can make it slightly difficult to understand at the beginning.

Both Blue and Red team have lots of advantages in the start, as Red team starts closest to the Rocket Launcher, while Blue team spawns practically right next to the location of the Overshield.

Try to get to the sniper rifle as fast as possible, irrespective of which side you’re on. Using the ledges on the Outside can be an extremely efficient way to do so for Blue team, which avoids the relatively open areas in the center.

Red team on the other hand will have to traverse across the Long Stairs to reach the point.

Whoever reaches it first should immediately take control of the Overhang in front of the Weapon Platform. The Overhang allows you to see the largest part of the map, and is especially useful for the sniper as long as he/she is covered.

When moving between the two sides of the map, it’s best to utilize the House corridor. This will protect you from anyone on the Overhang and is an efficient way of moving from the Overshield and Rocket Launcher area.

The weapons’ long sight lines encourages precision weapons, which is what you should be using at all times. Controlling the Overhang and the Outside is key to success in this map.

Halo 5 Guardians Plaza Multiplayer Arena Map Tips, Best Positions, Strategy

31 Oct

The Plaza is an asymmetrical multiplayer map in Halo 5 Guardians set in an urban environment. It encourages players to use jumping and clambering, and rewards those who master its verticality.

The map also encourages precision-shooting, so make sure your loadout is suited to its needs.

Game Modes
Slayer, Strongholds

Key Weapons & Power-ups
Sniper Rifle (3 minutes respawn)
Overshield (2 minutes respawn)

Best Positions
Plaza Sneaky – This aptly named part of the map is a small area that serves as an ideal position for watching the all-important Overshield. In addition to protecting the Overshield, this area also allows you a good sight of the map’s perimeters, especially the entire road area.

AC Syndicate-

It hasn’t been so long to forget for me when Assassin’s Creed 1 came out. In fact I was...

Cinema Loft – The Cinema Loft is located in the northernmost part of the map, and has the Sniper Rifle nearby. It serves as an excellent vantage point and makes a very large part of the map visible.

For best use of this area, have an ally occupy the Plaza Sneaky. Covering both these areas will allow you to practically dominate the map if your aim and cover skills are good enough.

Plaza Map Tips and Strategy
Regardless of which team you’re on, make an aggressive push with your entire team for the Overshield immediately as the match starts. Don’t get clustered up though; instead, spread out slightly and eventually converge towards the Overshield.

The team that acquires the Overshield first often dictates the early minutes of the game in this map.

All is not lost if you failed to reach the Overshield first though. Retreat collectively as a unit and spread out to the Plaza and Café sides of the map and set up a defensive lockup till the Overshield opponent is eventually taken care of.

Another option is to take control of the Plaza Sneaky and the Cinema. The Cinema houses the Sniper Rife, which can be a lethal weapon against the Overshield, and should be a priority if you failed to acquire the power-up.

If you’ve gained an advantage with the Overshield, you should try to occupy the Cinema Loft and Plaza Sneaky together and assume total control of the central and northern part of the map. This will likely pin the opposing team to one side, making it extremely difficult for them to come out without taking serious risks.

With the Overshield and possibly the Cinema Loft in control, have your team spread out to force the enemies to spawn in the center of the map. This will keep them severely exposed and almost guarantees easy kills for players on high vantage points around the perimeters of the map.

Teams on the back-foot should avoid the Bridge at all costs, and should instead look to use the path from Hotel Platform and Cinema Platform, jumping across the top of the Garbage Truck along the way. This will make it more difficult for any long-range player from having an easy shot at you.

Halo 5 Guardians Regret Multiplayer Arena Map Tips, Best Positions, Strategy

31 Oct

Regret is a symmetrical multiplayer map in Halo 5 Guardians inspired by Midship from Halo 2. This map looks like a human brain when seen from a top-down perspective, and its central Top Mid location is the most important location of the map.

Game Modes
Slayer, Capture the Flag, Strongholds

Key Weapons & Power-ups
Fuel Rod Cannon (2 minutes respawn)
Overshield (2 minutes respawn)

Best Positions
Top Mid – The center of this symmetrical map, the all-important Top Mid, is one position that you will need to battle hard for. It is also this very position that once secured can tip the balance of the match in your favor, irrespective of what game mode you’re playing.

Top Mid control also allows you easy access to the Overshield at Bottom Mid.

AC Syndicate-
Promoted Story

Why I No Longer Feel Excitement Over a New Assassin’s Creed

It hasn’t been so long to forget for me when Assassin’s Creed 1 came out. In fact I was...

What makes Regret’s Top Mid so special is that unlike most it provides plenty of cover. Its elevation makes it difficult for opponents to toss grenades, and in addition to the Overshield, you also get easy access to the Fuel Rod Cannon on the Overhang.

Challenging the enemy when they hold Top Mid can be extremely difficult in this map, and the best way to do it is to move to Bottom Mid and attempt to draw out players at Top Mod. It’s not always going to work, but it’s the best option you have.

Regret Map Tips and Strategy
Regardless of the game mode, the first thing you want to do is aggressively push as a team for Top Mid. This is where 1v1 abilities and movement skills become determining factors in your success/failure.

The control of Top Mid is essentially the control of this entire map, and you should push to get the Overshield as soon as possible. If you succeed, your team has a significant advantage.

In Capture the Flag, your defender can move back to position while the rest of the team covers the Flag Carrier with the Overshield. You’ll be able to constantly push towards the enemy’s base while keeping a single player back at Top Mid to hold the area.

If you’ve been pinned down as a result of the opponent team using the above mentioned tactic, the DMR in the Red and Blue Bases are your best bet against the Top Mid holders, along with trying to lure out the players at Top Mid through Bottom Mid.

If you’re roaming around the map instead of controlling Top Mid, be sure to do it with at least one other teammate, unless you’re very confident in your run-and-gun skills. This map will present a lot of 1v1 scenarios in locations other than Top Mid, so having an ally covering your back and vice versa is always a good idea.
