31 Aug

Apple is in talks as part of a possible move into producing its own original programming, Variety reports. According to the publication, the company is looking to start hiring for a new development and production division in the next few months that would go into operation next year, producing content to rival streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. It's not clear whether this new division would produce TV shows, movies, or both, but a unit within the Apple has reportedly already entered discussions with Hollywood executives, reporting back to Eddy Cue.

The Jackbox Party Pack 2 announced

31 Aug

Jackbox Games has announced another Party Pack, but it’s not clear whether it will feature a new You Don’t Know Jack game or not.

fibbage

The original Jackbox Party Pack included five games, easily the most recognisable of which was You Don’t Know Jack, the classic trivia game. It also included Fibbage, Drawful, Word Spud and Lie Swatter. The games were all played with tablets or phones rather than controllers.

The headline act for the second Jackbox Party Pack will be a sequel to Fibbage. In the original game, a weird trivia question is asked, and each player must come up with a fake response. At the end, all responses are shown – including the real one – and players get points for guessing the right answer, or when other players choose the answer they provided. It’s a lot like the boardgame Absolute Balderdash.

It’s unclear at this point whether Fibbage 2 will radically alter the formula, but it will include a streaming mode, allowing much larger audiences to nominate their favourite answers. It’s also not clear what other games will be included. The Jackbox Party Pack was a solid party game though, and hopefully this will provide similar fun.

Thanks, Polygon.

Someone has made a Star Destroyer mod for GTA 5

31 Aug

While we wait for Star Wars Battlefront, PC owners of GTA 5 can get their Star Wars kicks another way.

GTA grand theft auto 5 star destroyer

A video from GTA mod enthusiast TwoDynamic is currently blowing up on Reddit, thanks to the awesome Star Wars vehicles it examines. The best one is definitely the fully functional Star Destroyer. As TwoDynamic notes, not all the texture work is quite there yet, but it’s the only vehicle of its kind out there.

Here’s TwoDynamic’s video in full – he also details a cool looking Star Wars landspeeder:

GTA 5 continues to be a rich playground for creative modders and filmmakers. Check out this War Machine mod and this remake of a scene from The Fast and the Furious.

Here’s a look at Metal Gear Online’s coin prices

31 Aug

We’ve known for a while that you’d be able to buy coins to upgrade Mother Base in Metal Gear Online, but now we have a better idea of how much they cost.

A post made on Metal Gear Network has revealed some of the pricing on Mother Base coins. Granted it’s not entirely clear which region these screenshots come from – my speculation would be Australia, as the prices are ending in 95 when US store prices typically end in 99.

In the comments, Diamond_Ocelot shared details on some of the costs of upgrading:

Konami have reported that these in-game transactions “primarily act as an accelerator”, but we may have to wait and see just how achievable these upgrades are without spending.

Metal Gear Online comes packaged with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The game will be available in a little over an hour from now.

Google+ Collections is now on iOS

31 Aug

Three months after Google introduced Google+ Collections, the feature is now available on iOS, Google announced in a blog post today. With this update, iOS users who still use Google+ can now curate their feeds, filling them with images and conversations specific to their interests.

While the update might be helpful to users who have stuck around, Google+ seems to largely be a sunken ship. Google no longer requires users to create Google+ accounts, and earlier this year, split off Photos and Hangouts to see if the two could make it as standalone products. Collections is one of the company's surviving ideas for the new Google+, which is supposed to be a network organized around specific interests. Also, it's basically like Pinterest.

Samsung officially announces the Gear S2 smartwatch

31 Aug

After briefly teasing it on stage earlier this month, today Samsung has released more details about its coming Gear S2 smartwatch. Unfortunately, the company is still withholding crucial information like pricing and release date — but those probably aren't too far off. We're not even yet positive which phones it works with; if history is any indication, it'll be limited to Samsung's more recent devices. In today's press release, Samsung has revealed that its latest Tizen-powered watch will come in two models: the regular Gear S2 and a Gear S2 classic, which is aimed at consumers who "prefer more timeless watch design."

The Gear S2 classic features a more traditional watch design.

Dragon Guide – Ark: Survival of the Fittest

31 Aug

Ark: Survivor Evolved
MMO
Gameplay

Ark: Survival Evolveds’ Survival of the Fittest mode was already a tough enough challenge without having a fire breathing dragon available for players to tame. The latest addition to the bestiary, the Dragon is only currently available in the Survival of the Fittest Mode.

The Dragon is a massive creature, dwarfing even the largest dinosaurs like the Spino and Rex. Unlike the other dinos however the Dragon cannot be found wandering around in the wild. Only one Dragon will appear per SOTF match. When it does it will slowly start flying towards the central platform where you initially spawn. After arriving there, the Dragon will land and be available to tame.

The Dragon will usually spawn about mid-way through the match in most cases.

You do not need to tranq a Dragon to tame it, all you need to do is place meat in its inventory. Like the other carnivores, Dragons tame faster when they’re fed Prime meat. The Dragon is also set to passive meaning it won’t attack you or any other player/ dinosaur so long as it isn’t tamed by anyone. After it has been tamed, the tribe that tamed it will have 20 minutes to destroy as much as they can before the Dragon becomes wild again.

A tamed Dragon is by far the most powerful weapon a tribe can have in survival of the fittest. It boasts a massive amount of health, extremely powerful melee attacks and can breathe fire, burning all targets in a wide cone in front of it. Creatures/ players hit by the fire will continue to burn for a short duration after they are initially burnt.

The Dragon has a very high rate of movement on the ground and can even fly, allowing it to easily hunt down players trying to hide from it on the ground. You can mount the Dragon as soon as it’s tamed. There is no saddle needed for the Dragon.

Dragon Stats

Health: 30,000

Stamina: 450

Oxygen: 2,000

Food: 2,600

Weight: 3,000

Taming the Dragon will usually require a team of at least 2 players because you will need to defend it the entire time of the tame. You should be especially vigilant for stealthy players that will sneak up and remove the meat from its inventory. The taming process will not be lost when the meat is removed, but the last person to place meat in the inventory when it’s empty will receive the tame.
