Star Trek Online game developers are building a digital memorial to Leonard Nimoy

28 Feb

Everyone's finding a way to honor Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy, who died on Friday at the age of 83. Star Trek Online developer Cryptic Studios has announced that it is building a permanent memorial to Nimoy — and Spock — in the world of the 2010 MMO. Nimoy's connection to Star Trek Online goes deeper than the sci-fi franchise. The actor did voice work for the game, narrating brief introductions to the MMO's locales.

Fans of the game will have to wait for regularly scheduled maintenance on March 5th before visiting the virtual memorial. In the meantime, players have found their own way to cope. Active players report that as many as a thousand active users traveled to Spock's home planet of Vulcan after news of Nimoy's death broke on...

28 Feb

More Dragon’s Dogma Online screenshots have been released, and this batch is just as lovely as the last gallery we posted.

Since this game will likely never leave Japan, the images are a bit of a salt rub for fans of the IP, but hopefully another entry in the series will be released at some point for those in the west.

Dragon’s Dogma Online releases later this year in Japan on PC, PS3 and PS4.

Thanks, DualShockers.

28 Feb

It looks like Huawei is taking smartwatches very seriously. And it must be said, the company has made a very attractive looking smartwatch. As spotted by Droid Life, Two official promo videos for the "Huawei Watch" have accidentally been set live on YouTube ahead of the device's likely announcement tomorrow at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Before the videos were released, the watch was pictured in an advertisement at Barcelona's El Prat airport.

Wasteland 2 to Get Graphical Upgrade – News

28 Feb

inXile's acclaimed Kickstarter-funded Wasteland 2 is set to receive a graphical upgrade.

Wasteland 2 released late last year on PC and has received a number of major patches ever since. inXile has announced that the next major patch is set to contain not only additional gameplay improvements but also a graphical overhaul:

"One task we're working on right now is migrating the Wasteland 2 codebase from the Unity 4.5 engine to Unity 5, which will enable some new possibilities for us. A major benefit of moving to Unity 5 is that 5 will include many of the tools from Unity 4.x Pro. We relied on many of these tools during our development (like creating and building navigation meshes), and they will be available to modders without having to pay thousands of dollars for a Pro Unity license...

Modder adds offline co-op into Resident Evil: Revelations 2

28 Feb

PC users lamenting the lack of local, offline co-op in Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be pleased to know a modder has remedied the omission.

The mod, created by FluffyQuack, adds offline co-op mode to Episode 1 but the only caveat is players will need to use gamepads instead of mouse and keyboard (via Gamespot).

At present, the mod doesn’t work in Raid Mode, but FluffyQuack is working on it until Capcom patches co-op into Raid mode.

Originally, the co-op feature was listed in the game’s description on Steam, which Capcom appologized for, saying it was added unintentionally.

Capcom issued a statement after acknowledging the error, stating that Raid mode would support online co-op “shortly after launch when a free patch is available,”

The company doesn’t have plans to implement local co-op into the main campaign.
