Octodad: Dadliest Catch will support PlayStation Move when it launches on PS4

31 Aug

Octodad: Dadliest Catch will contain PlayStation Move support when it launches on PlayStation 4.

If you won’t feel like flailing your arms around in real-life, just use the DualShock 4 controller.

Players who opt to use Move will need just one controller and can alternate which leg you’re moving using the front Move button for the right leg, or the back trigger for left, and then wave the controller in the direction you want to stumble.

You can read up on how you can make Octodad do other crazy things over on the PS Blog.

Road Not Taken roguelike puzzle game releasing on PS4, PS Vita in 2014

31 Aug

Road Not Taken, the roguelike puzzle game from Spry Fox, will be launching on PS4 and PS Vita in early 2014.

The game is the developer’s take on Robert Frost poem of the same name, and has the player wandering through a forest hit by a large snowstorm.

Players will come across wild animals, barriers, and lost children as they explore the wilderness and according to the development team it contains “dozens of hours of gameplay, and no two sessions will ever be quite alike.”

One thing also of note: “you’re going to die many, many times.” However, each death will teach the player a lesson on how the world in the game works so you will make a better go of it next time out.

Players will also unlock new things as they progress.

The Last of Us PAX Panel touches upon alternate endings, scrapped ideas, mo-cap sessions

31 Aug

The Last of Us was the subject of a panel during PAX yesterday, where game director Bruce Straley and creative director Neil Druckmann discussed Naughty Dog’s original pitch, and early look at the story, and possible alternate endings.

I won’t mention possible spoilers for those who have yet to finish or play the game, sort of like one of the links up top did regarding Tess, but Polygon has the details on the alternate endings.

Naughty Dog also played a video of a motion capture session featuring actors Troy Baker (Joel) and Merle Dandridge (Marlene), discussed how one of the original ideas had Ellie’s dog tagging along, and another scrapped idea of a musical ending. I’m leaning toward the latter being a bit of joke from Naughty Dog – Polygon doesn’t say, though.

Again, if you want to read the entire thing, hit up the link. I’m just now 3/4 of the way through the game, and it’s already spoiled for me due to my job description, but I don’t want to do it to anyone else.
